I have a 1000W ballast. Can I use a 400W or 600W lamp (bulb) in it?

As a general rule, lamps (bulbs) can only be used with ballasts that specify the same wattage rating. A 1000W lamp can only be used with a 1000W ballast, a 400W with a 400W, etc. Many ballasts are made to handle only one wattage level. An exception to

Can an HPS ballast be used to power a metal halide lamp?

This is never recommended. The ballast and lamp (bulb) type (wattage and HID lamp type) must match. Convertible ballasts, however, can be switched between MH and HPS modes. There is also the option of using a conversion lamp. These are lamps that are de

What is the difference between an electronic ballast and a magnetic core and coil?

Electronic ballasts, also known as "digital", utilize a internal microprocessor that converts a higher efficiency of energy to the bulb using less power from the ballast. The result is a higher quality bulb life, and increased output of light.

Does the Mondo reflector have attached flanges and a lens system?

The Mondo Reflector has louvered flange covers that must be removed in order to attach the included 6" flanges. A lens system is included with the packaging as well to complete the air-cooling functionality.

Are my ballasts generator-ready?

Will my dual voltage 120/240V ballast operate on 208V or 277V?

Our Xtrasun and SG magnetic ballasts currently only have 120V & 240V capability. Our Powerhouse ballasts are wired for 120V and 240V, but have the capability to be rewired to 208V or 277V. If you already have a Hydrofarm ballast, consult a certified e

Which lamps are recommended for use with the Phantom and Xtrasun digital ballasts?

Do DE fixtures work with any ballast?

No. Double-ended fixtures require a double-ended ballast to properly ignite and run the lamps to achieve maximum output and proper spectrum.

If I cannot use item TM01240 with my Phantom at 240V, what timer can I use?

Use item TMHDT104, or one of our 240V-compatible lighting controllers, such as APCL4240.

Can the Phantom digital ballast operate different wattage lamps using the dimmability feature?

No, the Phantom dimmable feature is not made to allow different operation of multiple wattages. A 1000w ballast should only operate 1000w lamps, 600w models with 600w lamps, etc.

Can I use a 1000W bulb with a 750W ballast?

The combination will work, but the spectrum of the bulb will change. It is not recommended.
